Raging from Asheville, NC we have industrial, goth, doom, electronic band Reversels blasting through with their newest single “Gravitron,” off their upcoming LP LaSabre out July 23rd. Exploring themes of self love, gender euphoria, and body positivity, Reversels is the band we need now! LaSabre is a little bit goth, a little industrial, a nice bit of doom, and perfectly subversive.
"Gravitron" will be the second single off the album and the accompanying video is a poignant ode to queer and trans love. The band says they wrote the song "while driving a borrowed convertible on the way home from a spectacular queer punk show." The video for "Gravitron" radiates that late night feeling of euphoria.

The video for me was a lot of fun to watch. I feel like unfortunately there is truly NOT a lot of gay transmen representation in media that isn’t porn, and although this video isn’t exactly rated PG-13, it was still nice to see a semblance of personal representation in music for a change. I know the industrial world is no stranger to gay love (which rules), but it’s nice to see some love for my fellow trans siblings too.

You can watch the video for Gravitron below, and be sure to follow Reversels to hear the new album when it drops!

1) What was the writing process for Gravitron like?
Story wrote the main framework for the song after attending a queer punk show. Driving home after the show in a borrowed convertible, smoking a blunt, they were high on connections they’d made with other queer folks, and the song suddenly came to them. It was inspired by a rebellious level of optimism, and the spark we can give each other when we offer our presence in even fleeting moments of connection. Pretty Boy Floyd wrote his parts drawing from similar inspiration. His lyrics are inspired by moments of tenderness between trans people, specifically the magic of mixing up subtle old, traditional gender roles with another trans person. For both writers, it is an expression of thirst for life and connection.

2) Would you say you were more/less creative during quarantine?
The first half or so of quarantine, we weren’t very creative at all. In a sort of shock and crisis mode for the first six months or so, we focused on community and safety. Things leveled off after the summer and we regained some creative momentum, especially with the idea that we could create music videos with just the few people in our germ bubble. The fall and winter were spent making videos and recording our third album.

3) What are some things you’re looking forward to again after the pandemic subsides?
The obvious thing we’re excited about post-pandemic is playing live shows. It’s been well over a year since we played a show. We’re also excited about saunas, getting back in our friends’ hot tubs, and to be perfectly honest, buffets.

4) If you can go on a Dream Tour with any 2 artists and open for them, who would it be?
Our dream tour artists would be Dorian Electra and Dorian Wood. We love our queer Dorian musicians. Tour Dorian.
